Isobel joined Collaborate in May 2024 and brings with her experience of working in a variety of roles across the public sector, predominantly within public health and research ethics. After graduating from Cardiff University with a BSc in Social Science, Isobel gained experience working in public health communications and more recently in the coordination and facilitation of nationwide Research Ethics Committee’s.
Isobel has experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research, with a specific focus on resilience and coping within homeless young adults, from a youth workers perspective. Her findings showed that homeless young adults were systematically disadvantaged by the current structuring of services, which deepened Isobel’s passion to join an organisation that works to address inequality and reduce barriers and is what led her to Collaborate.
Ensuring that people feel seen, heard and understood is what drives me, and is what particularly attracted me to my role as projects and relationships coordinator. I wholly believe in Collaborate’s values and vision for a more collaborative society, and I find real purpose working for an organisation that so whole-heartedly strives to address inequality and advocates for social change.
I have found out first-hand through my own research, the pivotal importance of evidence informed interventions when looking to instigate real change for marginalised groups and the impact of the current systemic structuring of services. What is so exciting to me about my role is that it provides me with the unique opportunity to be able to support incredible organisations working to tackle complex social challenges and reduce barriers to vital interventions and services.
