Collaborate is once again delivering the Ignite programme on behalf of Solace starting this autumn.
In six days, across nine months, up to 12 local authority chief executives will come together to work through individual systems challenges collaboratively. Sessions are facilitated by Lord Victor Adebowale, drawing on expertise from Collaborate and Solace, alongside senior leadership figures from the public, private and social sectors.
Co-designed with the participants, the programme provides the space to look at the bigger picture, consider how leaders can best address the needs of their communities, while looking at values, purpose and their wider role in shaping the future of local government.
In complex and unprecedented times, in the midst of local government reorganisation, we know that that traditional approaches to leadership support don’t always fit the bill, but in the last six years the programme has tried and tested different approaches, creating the space for listening and reflection.
What do previous participants say?
What Ignite has done is create a safe space where we can learn together – discuss ideas, reflect on different approaches, be introduced to leadership tools, contemplate perspectives and share anxieties and concerns.
Leadership is a difficult, complicated, and sometimes a lonely business. Ignite gave me an immediate boost, new thoughts and perspectives and on-going access to a community of people I trust, whose expertise and wisdom I value and whose mutual support is invaluable.
This programme aims to develop skills for collaborative leadership for Chief Executives in local authorities. It has been extraordinarily powerful. I have developed trusting, positive and supportive relationships with a range of colleagues across the country who are grappling with the issues of public service reform.
