Sarah was Managing Director of Collaborate from 2014–2016 before going on to be Chief Executive of First Community, an employee-owned social enterprise delivering NHS community services in Surrey and Sussex. In this role, she helped develop collaborative (place-based) models of health and care, working with local government, the third sector, and NHS colleagues.
A chartered accountant by training, she spent her former years at the National Audit Office undertaking value-for-money work on a range of Central Government departments and then spent some time at the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit focusing on reducing reoffending. Her first CEO role was at Kent Probation, where she also chaired the Criminal Justice Board for Kent.
In their own words:
I am passionate about employee engagement particularly mutual forms of organisation where employees and users are part of the ownership model. Energetic and with a love of large pieces of coloured card, is how most people who know me at work describe me!
Variety is the spice of life so I combine my work at Collaborate with being a NED at Your Healthcare (NHS community health provider in SW London) and also at Healthwatch Surrey. I am also a qualified cricket coach so can usually be found out in the middle with a bat and ball. I live in Surrey with husband Alan, teenaged son Oscar and two rabbits.
