Sarah joined Collaborate in 2025 to lead a programme of change aligning Collaborate’s enabling HR and operations functions with organisational values and strategy. She brings over 20 years’ experience leading and consulting in charities and innovative education projects.

Prior to joining Collaborate, Sarah worked at Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK), where she led research and capacity building programmes. These supported social sector organisations across the UK to work more closely with people and communities with first-hand experience of social issues. She was lead author of SMK’s guide for organisations seeking to work in deeper solidarity for social change, It’s All About Power

Passionate about action inquiry as an approach to learning and change, Sarah has an MA in Power, Participation and Social Change from the Institute of Development Studies and is currently studying part-time towards an MA in People and Organisation Development.

In their own words:

It’s hard to imagine a more thoughtful, knowledgeable and caring group of people than the Collaborate team. I’m inspired by the diversity of ideas and experiences, and the shared conviction that, together, we can co-create a better future.

Throughout my career, I’ve helped social purpose organisations centre the voices and aspirations of those who are too often overlooked, build firm foundations and foster cultures that balance collective care and belonging with innovation and impact. I’m thrilled to be working and learning with Collaborate, to help us walk our talk and become a connected, caring and equitable organisation that reflects our vision of society.
